Berlin in the International Notarial Spotlight: Institutional Meetings and the 31st UINL World Congress of Notaries this autumn

The German Federal Chamber of Notaries (Bundesnotarkammer) is delighted to host the Institutional Meetings of the International Union of Notaries (UINL) and the 31st World Congress of Notaries in the German capital in autumn 2025. These prestigious events will bring together notarial delegates, experts and stakeholders to explore the latest developments and shape the future of the notarial profession through dialogue and networking.

The Institutional Meetings of the International Union of Notaries (UINL) will take place in Berlin from 28 September to 1 October 2025, followed by the 31st World Congress of Notaries from 2 to 4 October. The Bundesnotarkammer is delighted to host these special events and to welcome over 1,000 participants from all over the world to the German capital.

The work of the UINL focuses on strengthening the core principles of the Latin notarial profession, while enhancing international cooperation to support the continued development of the entire profession. During the Institutional Meetings, delegates from the 92 member notariats will come together in the various committees and working groups of the UINL to discuss current topics of mutual interest and to further international projects for the promotion of the notarial profession.

Following the Institutional Meetings, the triennial World Congress will open its doors to a broader audience from 2 to 4 October. In addition to notaries, notary candidates and notary staff, anyone interested in notarial topics is cordially invited to engage in exciting discussions and establish both national and international contacts.

The Congress will be held under the theme ‘The notarial profession on the move | New technologies – New roles’. It will address the dynamic challenges and opportunities facing the profession in a rapidly changing world focusing on two main topics: ‘New Tools | New frontiers: Notaries at the heart of a digital system for the future’ and ‘Non-contentious proceedings: New roles at the service of the public’. These sessions will highlight the crucial role of notaries in the digital age and their growing responsibilities in promoting efficient and citizen-oriented justice. The final Congress day will feature a high-level forum on ‘The Values of Continental Law – Protection, Prevention, Pacification’ highlighting the fundamental role notaries play in the area of preventive justice.

Alongside the rich professional programme, attendees can enjoy a diverse sightseeing program to get to know the lively metropolis of Berlin and its surroundings. From classic city tours and insights into the art and culture scene to an unforgettable ‘Trabi Safari’ and an excursion to the city of Potsdam including a tour of the Sanssouci Palace, the program offers something for every interest. Social highlights include a cocktail reception at the InterContinental Hotel and a closing evening in the iconic Arminius Market Hall.

The 31st World Congress of the UINL promises to be an inspiring event for legal professionals and interested parties alike.
